Chandini has made great progress with her broom business
Chandini (far right) and her two children stand in front of their partly built house.
With broom sales going well, Chandini has managed to save enough money to finish her half-built house. We gave her some old window frames, an old door and some roofing sheets, which we got from a demolished house. Her son-in-law did a great job to make the door and windows look new!
We also gave Chandini Rs 19,000/- (US$ 190) from the Magelanka account to buy timber for the roof.

Making progress as always
Chandani has begun fixing the roof level of her house. She is doing very well with the broom sales, directing all the savings toward completing her house. Pictures will be posted as soon as we visit them in Wadduwa.
August 13, 2008--
Chandani recently told Dilly that broom sales have been going really well. She has even been able to set money aside for her own home improvements! We'll give you a full update on this later, with pictures. She touched us all greatly when we found out she said to Dilly, "now we can eat to fill our stomachs." Just a small reminder of why we do this - there is no greater reward.
